Definine PDFP_RTP2_CLUBB with the correct size.

4d9b1b8

Gunther Huebler at 1:54 PM 11/24/25

First step to making grid resversible in clubb_intr. This is BFB when clubb_grid_dir = 1, no BFB (as expected) with -1

e60848b

Gunther Huebler at 1:54 PM 11/24/25

Big improvements to flipping. Now almost all calculations are in cam grid, and flipping sections have been consolidated to directly around the time stepping loop. Next is to push them inward until the only clubb grid calculations are done inside advance_clubb_core.

dddff49

Gunther Huebler at 10:42 PM 11/24/25

Consolidated ascending functionality as much as possible. Ascending vs descending BFB (except wp3_ta but that's internal and doesn't matter) - this is even true with clubb_cloudtop_cooling, clubb_rainevap_turb, and do_clubb_mf.

055e53f

Gunther Huebler at 10:46 PM 11/24/25

Made silhs work in descending mode, though it is not BFB with the ascending mode, even though there is no notion of ascending in it. There must be some bug with the flipper perhaps? Otherwise an internal interaction between clubb and silhs somehow, it's very upsetting, but I think it's time to give up and come back to it someday.

2fb2ba9

Gunther Huebler at 10:46 PM 11/24/25

Mainly organization and some pbuf simplifications. No major redimensioning yet. All changes should be BFB, but a handful of field outputs are different above top_lev because I made it zero everything above top_lev. Among the fields that differ: some (RTM_CLUBB RTP2_CLUBB THLM_CLUBB UP2_CLUBB WP2_CLUBB) were being initiazed to a tolerance above top_lev, and others (THLP2_CLUBB RTP2_CLUBB UM_CLUBB VM_CLUBB) were never initialized or set above top_lev, so we were outputting random garbage.

985e337

nusbaume at 12:53 PM 11/25/25

The DANGEROUS redimensioning. This significantly reduces the memory footprint and data copying steps in clubb_intr, mainly by switching pbuf variables (which are mostly clubb_inouts) to have nzm or nzt dimensions, allowing them to be passed into clubb directly, making the copying/flipping step unnecesary. This was tested with a top_lev > 1, so it should be well tested. There were some above top_lev interactions found, which seem erroneous, so I've marked them with a TODO and a little explaination.

Moving wp2sclrp, wpsclrp2, wpsclrprtp, and wpsclrpthlp to the zt netcdf output file, since those are zt variables. Also adding a missing variable, rcm_in_cloud, to all_stats.in and correcting a missing comma bug. This is technically BIT_CHANGING because the variables are moving files, but the stored data is identical from 1:nzt - the nzm level just had garbage for those variables and is now gone. (#1271)

thlm_ed and rtm_ed caused GPU errors since those variables were added to a acc loop, but never added to the acc data statement. This change makes it so they're only calculated on the CPU, since they are only used for stats, fixing the issue without adding the GPU memory footprint.

Making the l_random_k_lh_start set the random generator seed before generating a random. This should fix the generalized grid test, which failed for the only flag set that turned on l_random_k_lh_start. Before, the test passed because we used the same random seed for all timesteps, preventing differences in the random call. But now we use a different seed each timestep, causing differences. To ensure reproducibility, we use the seed each timestep to generate rand_pool, which is an effective solution, but we need to do that for the rand_integer_in_range call in the l_random_k_lh_start code for the same reason. Since this does change the random that comes out, this is BIT_CHANGING, but only for runs using both SILHS and l_random_k_lh_start=.true.
